Carroll-Turner School of Dance was established in 2001 and provides outstanding training in RAD (Royal
Academy of Dance) ballet, ISTD Modern, Tap and Jazz.
Students have the opportunity to take examinations both in grades and at vocational level, and we hold a biennial show, where our students get to perform in a professional theatre. Students are also encouraged to audition for outside performance opportunities and associate programs.
Our aim is to nurture, and build confidence through dance, and we welcome all children, young people and adults, regardless of ability.
Aileen Carroll-Turner - RAD (RTS) AISTD
Aileen began dancing at the age of seven; she was then a professional dancer in both theatre and television, performing in the UK and all over Europe for twelve years.
After her professional career she returned to training and spent a year at the Stella Man College of Performing Arts, then a further three years training at the Royal Academy of Dance gaining her teaching qualifications in RAD Ballet and ISTD Tap and Modern.
Aileen founded the dance department at Brighton College, and was head of dance there for seven years. She has also held teaching posts at Roedean, ICTheatre, and Marina Studios, as well as teaching advanced/professional Jazz at Pineapple Covent Garden and Danceworks London.
She opened the Carroll-Turner School of Dance (CTSD Studios) in 2001, from where her students have gone on to train at some of the top dance colleges, including: London Studio Centre, Trinity Laban and the Centre Performing Arts College.
Her students have also performed with London Children's Ballet, English Youth Ballet and Southern Youth Ballet, they have gained places on the Royal Ballet School's associate program and The Centre for Advanced Training at The Place, as well as Summer Schools at American Ballet Theatre, The Royal Ballet School and Paris Opera Ballet.
Feeling that she didn't have enough dance in her life, in 2010 Aileen took on the challenge of learning something new - ballroom and latin! With her her dance partner, she is the current UK Closed, British national and European over 50 latin champion, and the UK closed over 50 ballroom champion.
